Illinois GOP Says Democrats are Vulnerable
2/4/2010
By Sam Hudzik - WBEZ Radio Chicago
The chairman of Illinois' Republican Party says negative ads from Democratic primaries are going to come back to haunt Democratic candidates. At a "unity breakfast" hosted by the state party, Pat Brady said the GOP is in a good position to win statewide offices in November.
BRADY: I mean, look at what the Democrats did. They saved us about three million dollars in production costs in negative ads that we're going to be able to use against them.
Democrats running for governor and U.S. Senator beat up on their opponents constantly in the final weeks of their primary campaigns.
The GOP is trying to brand Illinois as the next Massachusetts. That's in reference to the unlikely victory there of Republican Scott Brown's campaign for U.S. Senate.
