Hultgren Says 'Foster/ObamaCare' Will Cost Jobs & Raise Costs
3/1/2010
Following a tour and meeting at Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon today, State Senator Randy Hultgren blasted the health care plan proposed by President Obama as a "big government virus that will make the ailing system sicker" and called on Congressman Bill Foster to join him in opposing the plan.
"The current health care system is clearly ailing, but the Foster/Obama prescription will only make the patient worse," said Hultgren.
"The Foster/Obama plan will raise costs for Illinois families, explode the budget deficit and put a bureaucrat between you and your doctor," said Hultgren.
"The patient needs surgery, but with a scalpel not a sledgehammer," said Hultgren.
Hultgren, a candidate for the 14th Congressional district seat currently held by Foster, has a long history of working to reduce costs for Illinois families in the State Legislature. Among his accomplishments is a bill to reform medical malpractice to keep good doctors here in Illinois.
"I support comprehensive health care reform, but only one that preserves and protects access to life-saving medical care while lowering costs and expanding access to care for the uninsured," said Hultgren.
"The first principle should be 'do no harm,' and this big government plan fundamentally violates that basic tenet of medical ethics," said Hultgren.
