Madigan-Cullerton candidate denigrates Republican Dr. Arie Friedman’s military service
6/20/2012
CHICAGO- Earlier this week we got a look at how far out of touch Illinois Democrats, led by Speaker/State Party Chairman Mike Madigan are with suburban voters.
Speaking at an event for her campaign office grand opening, Democratic state senate candidate Julie Morrison called into question Republican Arie Friedman’s qualifications to serve in the Illinois Senate as he has never been “accountable” to taxpayers. Morrison stated, "I know what it's like to be accountable to taxpayers and my opponent does not.”
Dr. Arie Friedman's, a Republican Senate Candidate in the Northern Suburbs served for seven years in the U.S. Navy as a helicopter pilot, flying SH-60B Seahawk helicopters being deployed twice, including once as a part in Operation Desert Storm.
Illinois Republican Party Chairman Pat Brady said, "It is not surprising that one of Madigan’s candidates would make such a statement given that Madigan’s Democrats put a much higher value on accountability to Madigan than to the taxpayers they represent or in the loyalty oath taken by Dr. Friedman when as a naval aviator he swore to protect and defend the citizens of the United States." “Accountability in the minds of Illinois Democrats means did I do what Madigan told me to do.”
