Durbin wins Illinois Madness Championship

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin has defeated Governor Pat Quinn in the Finals of the Illinois Republican Party’s Illinois Madness Tournament to determine the biggest Tax & Spend Democrat in Illinois to win the Corruption Cup.

Durbin’s victory over Quinn comes on the heels of record federal spending and crushing deficits that Durbin helped usher in as Senate Democratic Whip.

“Topping Quinn’s huge tax increases was no small feat,” said Illinois Republican Party Chairman Pat Brady. “But Senator Durbin leading the way on reckless federal spending that will bankrupt America proved to be a winner in the competition…and a loser for taxpayers.”

Durbin won the balloting by online voters at the Illinois GOP’s website following a 65 team tournament patterned after the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Championship, which was won by UConn over Butler on Monday evening.

“The taxes and spending that Durbin and Quinn have brought us will have the same success rate as the shooting percentage we saw in the NCAA championship game on Monday night,” said Brady. “But unfortunately we won’t be seeing any bricks here as Illinois has been rated as one of the worst states to do business in.”

Brady said that he’d be happy to present Durbin with the Corruption Cup but that no one can afford to pay the taxes on it.
