Inauguration Day in Springfield
1/10/2011
Illinois Republican Party Chairman Pat Brady issued the following statement regarding Monday's inauguration of State Constitutional Officers in Springfield:
“I want to congratulate Governor Pat Quinn and all of the Constitutional officers taking the oath of office today. It is especially noteworthy that Judy Baar Topinka returns to statewide office as the new state Comptroller and Dan Rutherford becomes the new state Treasurer. Not only are they the first Republicans to hold a Constitutional office in four years, they will help take the lead in shoring up Illinois’ finances at such a pivotal time.
“This will be an important year for balancing the state’s checkbook, and that is why I hope Governor Quinn and the Democratic leaders in Springfield take the responsible, though difficult path toward putting Illinois back on the right track. Congratulations to House Speaker Mike Madigan for entering his 5th decade of service in the Legislature. I hope this is the year he does the right thing to fix our state.
“Lastly, I want to thank Dan Hynes and Alexi Giannoulias for their service to our state and wish them well in their future endeavors.”
