Soaring Deficits:
2006 Budget Deficit: $2 billion (Comptroller’s Office)
2010 Budget Deficit: $12 billion (Civic Federation of Chicago)

Sinking Credit Ratings:
2006 Standard and Poor’s Rating: AA (Comptroller’s Office)
Current Standard and Poor’s Rating: A+ with negative outlook (Comptroller’s Office)

Soaring Unemployment:
May 2006 Unemployment: 4.7%
May 2010 Unemployment: 10.8%
